Our Journey so far..
Shanti Hastkala (SHK) is an initiative started by Gurudev Swami Nityanand of Shanti Mandir in 2004. Swami Nityananda’s vision is to bring about financial independence of the people of Magod and surrounding villages by empowering women folk through SHK.
Our Motto..
It is strange how much we take for granted every day. The food we eat the education we get and the hygienic conditions we can afford to live in. If we can just stop for a minute and consider how a little help can go a long way into improving the lives of the less fortunate ones. On the other hand giving can also bring about great joy and inner satisfaction plus bonus-Instant Karma.
Everyone can do their little bit to help, by simply buying SHK products or assists by volunteering in or organizing SHK exhibitions. You can even help sponsor the education of a child from Magod.
Please note all contributions and proceeds coming from sale of items are used solely to support village women or reinvested for raw materials to keep the organization running.
The Village Artisans
The artisans are from small villages around Magod village in Gujarat state of India. 90 percent of artisans are women. Shantihastkala encompasses around 70 villages and 100 artisans.

Why Volunteer
It is said “Manav Seva, Madhav Seva” - Service to Humanity Is Service to God -
Even if one realizes this, one does not have many opportunities in cities to find genuine projects to work for uplifting of rural villages.
Shanti Hastkala provides readymade infrastructure for you to come and serve humanity.
You can share your knowledge and skills with underpriviledged village folk. You can bring a smile on a Child's face by supporting or teaching him.
The benefits and feelings of participating in Shanti Hastkala project are best described by experiences of some of our volunteers. Read here...

We present the flavour of Gujarat through our traditional Gamthi kurtis. The villages use their traditional block and chemical dyes on the fabric, making the print look a little uneven, thus making a style statement.
All the gents' kurtas are made in plain cotton or pin-tucked material. Kurtas are available with or without a collar and in short or long lengths to go with the trousers or churidhar/pyjamas
Choose from a wide variety of bags, ranging from multipurpose to laptop bags made from simple cottons to the very jhatak matak colorful bags to suit your style.
Let us surprise you with a wide variety of pouches from the interior of Gujarat State. Pouches for coins, mobiles, glasses, and, of course, pouches for a child to keep their very own treasures in!!! Go ahead and peep into these exciting pouches. Choose and be blessed!!!
Besides making cloth products, our villagers are experts even with paper.
As you peep in you will get to see envelopes plain and/or with cut work, wall hangings, painting, diaries, table mats and coasters all with warli paintings on them.
We invite you to take a tour of the 'Home Furnishing' section on our site. Get excited at seeing the most beautiful tablecloths, table runners and mats that are available in different sizes and colours. Also check out the exclusive curtains, bedspreads and cushion covers made especially for you!!!
